HTC Client, SHMsoft, brings the first Hadoop Bootcamp to Houston, March 14-16
SHMsoft is bringing Big Data to Houston, in earnest
SHMsoft, a client of HTC, started two years ago with an open source, Big Data product for legal eDiscovery called FreeEed. After two years the product starting seeing traction in companies and governmental agencies looking for an inexpensive alternative to old technology but expensive products by competitors.
In addition, a vertical Hadoop application – any vertical Hadoop application – is bound to attract attention. FreeEed has become a catalyst and a starting point for financial, energy, and other vertical applications.
All the hard work the company has put into the development of their software product led to an unexpected result: the Hadoop/Big Data training and consulting services started growing at a great pace. These are delivered through a subsidiary called “Elephant Scale.”
The company is also popularizing Hadoop and Big Data technologies at Houston Hadoop Meetup, http://www.meetup.com/Houston-Hadoop-Meetup-Group/. Mark Kerzner, the CEO of SHMsoft, has started this meetup more than three years ago, and it now counts close to three hundred members.
And now, after dozens of developer courses taught, and hundreds of developers educated in the new technologies used by Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and Yahoo – SHMsoft is bringing this knowledge to Houston.
The first Houston Hadoop Bootcamp will take place on March 14-16 (Friday through Sunday). At this intensive workout, software developers will be plunged into the Big Data technologies and will emerge out of it unscathed and enriched. This will lead them to new projects at their current companies, new careers, and – who knows - to new startups, perhaps another Facebook.
