Houston Technology Center Announces Continuation of Texas Emerging Technology Fund

New Awardees to be announced by Governor Rick Perry on September 29, 2010

8/12/10 – Houston, Texas.  The Houston Technology Center and the Gulf Coast Regional Center of Innovation and Commercialization (GCRCIC) are announcing that they will begin accepting new Texas Emerging Technology Fund (TETF) applications by October 12, 2010.  Significant federal reimbursements have recently been made to the state of Texas, which have been designated for use by the Texas Emerging Technology Fund.

In affiliation with the Gulf Coast Regional Center of Innovation and Commercialization, the TETF has awarded over $40 million to 36 companies in the region since the funds’ inception. The Texas Emerging Technology Fund provides Commercialization Awards of up to $5 million to help early stage companies commercialize emerging technologies in Texas such as nanotechnology, life science, information technology, and energy technologies with an emphasis on clean energy.
“The Houston Technology Center applauds the state of Texas for their commitment to commercializing emerging technology and its positive economic impact on the Gulf Coast Region”, stated Walter Ulrich, CEO and President of the Houston Technology Center.
New awardees will be announced by Governor Rick Perry during a private reception at the Houston Technology Center in late September and formally recognized at the Gulf Coast Innovation Conference & Showcase on September 30, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Houston.
