||Jack W. Plunkett, CEO, Plunkett Research Ltd.
Plunkett Research monitors and analyzes what is often called "The Age of Convergence," that is, convergence between television, radio, recorded music, the Internet, telephony, entertainment systems and computers. This convergence has begun in earnest. Wireless technologies and fast Internet connections are the keys, and a mass-market tipping point of consumer broadband access to the Internet has been reached. By the beginning of 2006, 47 million U.S. homes will have fast Internet connections of one type or another. These are affluent homes that information professionals, advertisers and providers of consumer goods, entertainment and services are anxious to reach.
Jack will explain how Wi-Fi, WiMax and cellular systems are combining with PCs and mobile personal devices to create opportunities to capture consumers' attention and fulfill their needs in direct, efficient new ways, from podcasting to VOIP and many other exciting new platforms.
Jack W. Plunkett is CEO & Publisher of Plunkett Research, Ltd., a Houston-based provider of market research and industry information. Plunkett's client list includes 5,000 leading corporations, universities and government agencies worldwide. Jack Plunkett is the author or editor of more than 30 books, including Plunkett's Telecommunications Industry Almanac, Plunkett's Entertainment & Media Industry Almanac, Plunkett's Advertising & Branding Industry Almanac, and Plunkett's E-Commerce & Internet Business Almanac.
A life-long entrepreneur, he has been recognized as a finalist in the "Entrepreneur of the Year" competition sponsored by Ernst & Young. Plunkett has served as a director or advisor to several corporations and major non-profit institutions. He was Founding President of the Technology Entrepreneurs' Exchange, Inc. and was founding president of a highly successful economic development corporation.
Texchange Event Format:
Meetings start with refreshments and informal conversation followed by a sit-down dinner where attendees can become acquainted with others at their table. After the speaker's presentation, each table discusses a pre-set technology or entrepreneurial topic among themselves. Everyone is encouraged to share their viewpoints and, especially, share knowledge gained through their own unique experiences. Afterwards, there is a moderated "open table" discussion.
