Highlights of the Competition

  • In 2004, the Rice Business Plan Competition was the largest intercollegiate business plan competition in the U.S., based on the 34 MBA schools that competed on-campus

�� 2005 Competition will include 36 teams from top MBA schools from the U.S & Worldwide

�� Competition is judged on written and oral presentations of the business plan

  • $100,000 in total prizes including $70,000 in cash + over $30,000 in services
      •  1st place award: $20,000 cash award + air travel + free office space + free web site
      • 2nd place award: $15,000 cash, 3rd place award: $7,500 cash
      • 32 total cash prizes will be distributed to a minimum of 24 teams

• Judged by over 100 experienced venture capitalists, investors, and business leaders

• Winning team qualifies for the international MOOT CORP finals and chance to vie for $100,000

• Held in the state-of-the-art Jones Graduate School of Management Building at Rice

8:30 am – 9:00 am: Welcome and Review Judge Instructions
9:00 am – 2:30 pm: Competition: Semi-Final Round
2:30 pm – 5:00 pm: Teams receive feedback from Judges + Announce Finalists

Saturday, April 9, 2005
9:00 am – Noon: Wildcard Round and Challenge Round
Noon – 4:30 pm: Competition: Final Round
