NASA (JSC) and the University of Houston invite you to a “Fireside Chat” with Michelle K. Lee, the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Under Secretary Lee, the first woman to serve as head of our nation's patent system in its 225-plus year history and principal advisor to President Obama on intellectual property, will discuss recent developments in the landscape of intellectual property law and policy. She will also discuss the recently opened USPTO Texas Regional Office and several initiatives at the USPTO aimed at supporting the region's innovators, including the Enhanced Patent Quality Initiative to increase the clarity and certainty with issued patents and the "All in STEM" initiative to promote women and girls in STEM fields.

Under Secretary Lee looks forward to hearing from the community on these issues and other ways the USPTO and the Administration can help promote innovation and engage the greater Houston community. Please come ready to share your ideas!
