Orbital Traction’s MCVT will enable significant gains in energy efficiency over regular planetary gear transmissions. The MCVT is unique because unlike other CVTs, it does not require an external pressure mechanism (i.e. clamping of the belt or traction elements) to enable the CVT to function.
