WEB DEVELOPMENT USING OPEN SOURCE TOOLS
SPEAKER:
Kevin Lacobie
Founder and Chief Officer
Agoric Source, LLC

Kevin Lacobie has often crossed industry boundries, and develops a quality reputation in each. His career started in the allied health industry, where he was the all-around technical guru for the School of Allied Health, University of Texas Medical Branch. He published papers on how to make DOS work more effectively in networked environments, and developed a prototype Health Information Systems Simulations system for the school.

His next industry foray was in aeronautics, where we was co-author of a book, Potential Markets for Small Satellites , describing this exciting new technology, and a chapter entitled "Economics of Strategic Planning" in the AIAA's Space Economics" book. This, and his participation in the Agorics Project at George Mason University, led to the founding of his first company, Agoric Enterprises, Inc., and later the co-founding of Agorics, Inc. in Los Altos, CA.

Mr. Lacobie has served in management positions with Lotus Consulting and Interliant, the former in Indonesia and Venezuela; and with Interliant, directing both software product development and information technology, leading the development of products such as Domino Instant! Host and Dellhost.

Mr. Lacobie has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston, an M.A. in Economics from George Mason University, and is a professional member of the Southern Economics Association as well as the Association for Computers in Taxation. Beyond his business and family interests, he is actively involved in several volunteer organizations, including positions on boards of:

He is also an avid (if no longer very skilled!) soccer player, and coaches a soccer team at the Y.
