The HTC Story
It is Houston's strong entrepreneurial spirit and vast technology resources that stand solidly behind the origin , mission and activities of the Houston Technology Center. While Houston's energy reputation is undisputed, it must expand the awareness of its high-technology business prowess and broad range of technology-based research institutions.
HTC serves as the catalyst for revealing Houston as an innovative, high technology city with the magnetism and edge to attract and support the budding entrepreneur. Houston is teeming with technological advances in the key fields of energy, life sciences, information technology, and NASA-originated technology. Promoting this lesser-known face to the world and integrating Houston's technology and business community is of the utmost importance to Houston and a goal of the HTC.
Bigger, Better, Faster
"If we can identify the emerging technology companies that have the best chance for success," explains HTC President and CEO, Paul Frison, "and then provide them with access to the best resources available, wouldn't they "get there" - bigger, better, faster?"
"Our goal" says Frison, "is to accelerate the commercialization and growth of emerging technology businesses. We want to tell the world about the significant successes Houston already has and is greatly expanding in many of these technology fields."
Our Efforts are Working
A number of HTC Client Companies have chosen Houston as the perfect, fertile environment to build their technology-based businesses. Key business leaders have embraced HTC's goals, and, working closely with the HTC as mentors and advisors, have provided emerging companies with their valued expertise, contacts and support.
Houston-based accounting firms, law firms, PR agencies and all other professional services required for business success, provide pro-bono hours and/or below market services to HTC clients during the first year. Venture capital firms and the Houston Angel Network provide the necessary financing to launch and build new companies.
"Ultimately, the HTC provides a win-win situation" furthers Frison. "We assist the entrepreneur to attract capital and business resources, as well as showcase the results and potential of Houston. We strive every single day to make that happen."
